Fast Fiction Contest – NOW ITS PERSONAL – NOW OPEN

Conflicts continue because of longstanding grudges, historical betrayals, or simply because soldiers find themselves just following orders. Sometimes, however, opposing goals can strike one’s heart more than might be comfortable…

NOW ITS PERSONAL encourages writers to explore how a galaxy full of death, injury, trauma, or destruction can emotionally affect characters (human or alien) and to tell stories of how they deal with that anger, sadness, or madness that is deeply personal.

What is Fast Fiction?
Fast Fiction is a writing competition of 1 theme. 1,000 words. 1 winner.

Fast Fiction is a bi-monthly contest with a limited word count. In this contest stories are submitted according to a judge-selected theme. Stories must capture the reader’s attention quickly while fulfilling the promise of the theme, setting, and character development.

Who is judging?
In addition to our editorial team from Cold Open Stories, each Fast Fiction features a judge from the Warhammer community. We are thrilled to be joined this month by two community members:

Andrew of Hobby Vices – Husband, father, teacher, and official Warhammer Hero, Andrew is known for leading community-wide initiatives like the #hohohobbyvices Secret Santa project, hobby pledges, and narrative-driven campaigns and stories through the Hobby Vices Discord.

Dan of The Havoc Cast – Everyone’s favourite mad-scientist Warhammer Hero, Dan is known his WILD conversions, support of the #Warmongers community, and The Havoc Cast podcast where he interviews a hobbyist from the Tabletop Wargaming community with questions ranging from hobby related, to personal; serious to silly.

Best wishes to everyone who enters, and happy writing!
