We wear them to be accepted by others, to gain anonymity, or to protect ourselves. Masks grant us the power to act out our desires, hide secrets, and maintain a hidden self, but is this practice intended to shelter the “real self” or is the mask a possible weapon (symbolically or otherwise)?
Beneath The Mask encourages writers to delve into the theme of masks and to explore the dynamic of what lies on the surface and what lies hidden beneath.
