Spring 2020 + April Fast Fiction Contest – Now Open

With Winter 2020’s Short Fiction release, it can only mean one thing…

That’s right — Spring 2020’s Short Fiction Anthology is now open! Submit your story between April 1, 2020 and June 1, 2020 for a chance to be included amongst other industry fans and Black Library scribes. We’ve adjusted the word count this time to make it a little generous for stories on both the lower and higher end of the word count (now 2,000-8,000 words). Which brings us to something new…

Not interested in writing a 2,000-8,000 word manuscript? That’s fine! We’re now opening our first Monthly Fast Fiction contest. In this new competition, you have a maximum of 1,000 words to weave your tale. The April 2020 theme is “RECLAIM“, so get crafting cause there’ll only be one entry crowned as the winner.

Who will be judging the entries? Funny you ask…

Members of the Warhammer 40,000 fan community will recognize our judging lineup. In addition to Colyn from Cold Open Stories, we’re proud to welcome book reviewer and interviewer Michael from Track of Words, and ‘the Chronicler’ Jack from the popular Youtube Oculus Imperia. Judges will be reviewing entries according to the values of opening, style, plot, conflict, and characterization.
